Transdiscourse cinematic semiotics: The representation of the “other” in the documentary Xochitiotzin: Life and color

Abstract
The article analyzes from an interdisciplinary perspective how the documentary Xochitiotzin: Life and Color (2022) uses transdiscursive semiotics to represent Tlaxcaltecan identity and culture. It examines the representation of the artist Desiderio Hernández Xochitiotzin as a subaltern “other” who, through his work, constructs dignified representations of other subalterns and challenges hegemonic narratives.
