The sacred rhetoric of Juan Rodríguez de León. New Spain, 1638

Abstract

This article attempts to show the thoughts and reflections that a clergyman, intending to instruct the sacred orators in Spain and New Spain, has on rhetorical preceptive. It also shows the ideas and arguments that the preacher elucidated from St. Paul's letters. The bishop explains how the apostle's forms of discourse are valid for the elaboration of sermons in a new way, in a time particularly complicated due to the emergence of modern ideas in philosophy.
